Rolls-Royce Marine Business Gains Two Executives and a Contract for Propulsion SystemsLONDON - Rolls-Royce, already well known in Brazil for the supply and service of aero engines and for a growing presence in land-based power generation, has strengthened its Marine business in Rio de Janeiro. Rolls-Royce Marine, now the world's largest provider of marine systems, powering 33 Navies and 20,000 commercial ships, has created a new sales and service centre in Rio de Janeiro. Mr. Paulo Lemgruber has been recruited from Interocean to be the President of Rolls-Royce Marine - Commercial, Brazil and Ronaldo Melendez has been recruited from Gehr International to be the Commercial Sales Director. Other appointments are being made to strengthen the Customer Service Centre providing support to customers using Rolls-Royce gas turbines, Bergen diesel engines, Ulstein Aquamaster equipment and Kamewa thrusters -- the latter companies were recently purchased by Rolls-Royce. At the same time as establishing the Rolls-Royce Marine Customer Service Centre in Rio de Janeiro, the Company signed contracts for Ulstein Aquamaster propulsion systems for two coastal dredgers to be built in Manaus by the Erin Shipyard. Rolls-Royce's plc Regional Director for South America, Mike Boden, said: "The creation of a dedicated sales and customer service office for our Marine Business in Rio completes the establishment of Rolls-Royce's four business sectors in Brazil, the other three being Civil Aviation, Military Aviation and Energy. We now look forward to providing immediate local support to our marine and naval customers in Brazil, where we already have substantial equipment in operation for the harbour and inland workboats, offshore supply boats, offshore oil producing platforms, visiting cargo ships and a long relationship with the Brazilian Navy through providing engines for Brazilian frigates." Mike added: "I wish Paulo Lemgruber and his new team every success in supporting existing clients of Rolls-Royce and attracting new business."
