Celebrity Watches Up for Auction This Weekend As Antiquorum Teams Up With RM Auctions Inc., at Monterey's Annual Sports Car Auction MONTEREY, CA, AUGUST 18-19MONTEREY, Calif. - Antiquorum, the world's leading auctioneer of fine collector's watches, has teamed up with RM Auctions Inc., North America's largest catalogue collector car auction house, and is introducing for the first time ever a watch auction as part of RM's annual sports car auction this weekend, August 18-19 in Monterey, CA. Antiquorum is offering over 100 watches from prestigious manufacturers such as Rolex, Cartier, Patek Philippe, Breguet, Audemars Piguet, and Vacheron & Constantin. On the celebrity front are two wristwatches once owned and previously worn by NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon and U.S. Golf Open Champion, Tiger Woods. Gordon's watch, a gentleman's Rado, estimated $2,000-2,500, was a gift from his wife Brooke and is engraved on the clasp "I love you, Brooke." Woods' watch, a Tudor Prince Date with red dial and red leather band is offered for sale with a certificate of warranty issued under the golfer's own name. Estimated $3,000-4,000, Antiquorum experts anticipate both celebrity watches to fetch well above pre-sale estimates. The watch sale also features many jeweled, complicated, and sports wristwatches for both men and women. One of the highlights is a set of 2 Souscription 18K gold watches by Breguet, No. 27, estimated $90,000-100,000. Included in this set is a minute-repeating, astronomical wristwatch with perpetual calendar, phases and ages of the moon, and an astronomical self-winding pocket watch with date, phases and ages of the moon, and power reserve indication. Also certain to capture the attention of car lovers is a unique, platinum Girard-Perregaux gentleman's "Ferrari" wristwatch with one minute tourbillon regulator, split-seconds chronograph, registers, and minute repeater. The most sophisticated wristwatch made by Girard-Perregaux with the Ferrari logo on the dial, this collector's delight is expected to fetch above its pre-sale estimate of $130,000-150,000. Another highlight is a Patek Philippe & Cie, Geneve, Ref. 3939H, minute-repeating chronometer in 18K pink gold with one minute tourbillon regulator, estimated $170,000-190,000.
