Frost & Sullivan Releases U.S. Automotive Production & Sales Databases

15 August 2000

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Frost & Sullivan announces the release of its latest product -- the U.S. Automotive Industry Databases. Containing monthly data, these databases track light vehicle production and sales by vehicle nameplate, automaker group and vehicle type.

Data gathered by Frost & Sullivan industry experts are posted monthly as soon as each database is complete. Electronic delivery is available via Frost & Sullivan's subscription Web site, Frost & Sullivan's Advanced Customer Extranet Web sites or by e-mail. Printed copies are available by mail.

The e-mail and ACE versions of these databases allow users to manipulate data and compute summations and percentages in addition to those already provided in the databases.

Virtually all nameplates made or sold in the United States are included. Production and sales are presented both as unit counts and as shares, by nameplate, automaker group, nationality of nameplate and vehicle type. The by-vehicle-type sections aggregate vehicles into the following categories: cars and light trucks; two-seaters, sports cars, family cars, luxury cars, pickup trucks, full-sized vans, minivans, and sport utility vehicles.

"These databases will prove an invaluable resource to anyone with an interest in the auto industry -- the automakers themselves, suppliers to the auto industry, suppliers of aftermarket accessories and the investment community," says Frost & Sullivan industry analyst Joerg Dittmer.

Nameplates covered in both databases are: Acura, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Honda, Jeep, Lincoln, Mercedes, Mercury, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Pontiac, Saturn and Toyota. Additionally, the Sales database covers Audi, Daewoo, Hyundai, Infiniti, Isuzu, Jaguar, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, Porsche, Saab, Subaru, Suzuki, VW and Volvo. The production database includes AutoAlliance, NUMMI and Subaru-Isuzu.
