Ford Employees Paint the TownDEARBORN, Mich., Aug 11 Ford Motor Company continues to show its support to revitalize the greater metro Detroit area this weekend as volunteers head to southwest Detroit for the annual "Paint the Town" project. Community Service is both a personal initiative, as well as a professional goal for many of the Ford volunteers. Participants echo the same motivation for being involved, and welcome the opportunity to help rebuild our communities. "I work in Consumer Affairs and this is the third year our department has had a 'Paint the Town' team," said Liza Bond, Ford Motor Company. "We decided to have a team after a Business Leadership Initiative Session, which stressed the need to give back to the community." Fifteen teams made up of over 550 people, will gather in Detroit's Patton Park with volunteers from other companies and organizations. Each team will paint and help restore one home in southwest Detroit. One large team will paint and restore two houses. "I have been involved for eight years. Both my wife and my son participate. My wife also works for Ford and is responsible for originally getting us involved," said John Wolford, Purchasing Manager, Ford Motor Company. "It has also become a way to keep in touch with people you don't see except for during 'Paint the Town'." Today is the 10-year mark for Ford Motor Company's participation in this worthwhile event.
