Nissan Vehicles Not Affected By Bridgestone/Firestone Tire Recall

    TORRANCE, Calif. - Nissan North America, Inc. today was formally notified by 
Bridgestone/Firestone that the voluntary recall announced by Firestone does not 
involve any Nissan vehicles.

    As outlined in a letter dated August 9, 2000 from Bridgestone/Firestone
President, O.E. Sales Division, Arthur W. Stuart, to Nissan, "none of the
tires included in this action were supplied at any time to your company
(Nissan) and no aftermarket tires other than P235/75R15 size are affected."

    "At Nissan, customer safety, security and satisfaction are our highest
priorities," said Debra Sanchez Fair, vice president, corporate
communications, NNA.  "While we are relieved that the Bridgestone/Firestone
tire recall does not affect any Nissan customers, we nonetheless urge all
consumers to properly care for tires and to maintain proper tire inflation
according to the specifications called out on the vehicle tire placard and
owner's manual.  Should any customers have concerns regarding their tires,
Bridgestone/Firestone has established a toll-free customer service number at
1-800-465-1904 for further assistance."

    In North America, Nissan's operations include automotive styling,
engineering, consumer and corporate financing, sales and marketing,
distribution and manufacturing.
