Firestone Recalls Nearly 7 Million Tires - For Details And the Impact on Consumers, Click Over to TheCarConnection.com

DETROIT - Facing reports of 46 deaths and scores of injuries, Firestone is
ordering the recall of nearly 7 million tires which critics content might fail
unexpectedly and catastrophically.

Most of the tires have been mounted on Ford Explorer sport-utility
vehicles, but many are in use on other vehicles. Do you have a defective
tire? If so, what do you do about it? How will Ford participate in the
recall -- in which tires will be replaced for free, no matter how old and no
matter how many miles they've been driven? What will the impact of this
financially disastrous recall be on Firestone and its parent, the Japanese
tiremaker, Bridgestone? We'll have the complete story, with all you need to
know, whether you're a consumer or an automaker, on a special edition of
TheCarConnection.com .
