Budget Group Appoints Former BP Amoco Executive As Chief Financial OfficerLISLE, Ill. - Budget Group, Inc. today announced the appointment of William S. Johnson, a 16-year executive with BP Amoco (formerly Amoco), as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Johnson, age 43, will oversee all the financial and treasury activities of Budget Group, Inc. Johnson is a well-respected and seasoned executive who brings an impressive record of financial management and business leadership to Budget Group. He most recently served as president of Amoco Fabrics and Fibers Company, an $850 million international business unit of BP Amoco with over 7,000 employees, 16 manufacturing sites, and activities in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. Johnson led a successful strategic restructuring effort to refocus this division on its core product areas, which resulted in significant improvements in net income and cash flow. He was also formerly in charge of all of Amoco's polymer products as vice president, Global Business Management, Amoco Polymers, Inc., a $900 million business unit, and served in Hong Kong as vice president, Venture Development for Amoco Chemical Asia Pacific. In addition, Johnson spent several years as a member of Amoco's Corporate Finance Group, where he evaluated capital spending and financing projects worldwide, oversaw financial reporting and analysis, and secured financing arrangements. "Bill is a tremendous addition to Budget Group's experienced management team and his expertise will be a valued asset as we continue our strategic plan to improve profitability and focus on our core car and truck rental businesses," stated Budget Group president and chief operating officer Mark Sotir. Johnson replaces Neal S. Cohen, who has resigned for personal reasons. While at Budget, Cohen led the successful structuring of financing facilities to support the Company's peak fleet as well as directed the implementation of a number of finance best practices.
