Federal-Mogul Named 'Best of Best' Among Automotive Suppliers

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - In their 3rd annual Quest for Excellence survey of 
supplier performance, Automotive Industries magazine readers have once again 
named Federal-Mogul Corporation among the "Best of the Best" automotive suppliers
in three categories: Electrical Systems, Engine/Powertrain Systems, and Seals, 
Gaskets and Packing Systems.

    "Being named to this list of the 'Best of the Best' by our customers
recognizes our on-going efforts to anticipate customer needs, continually
improve performance and quality, and truly delight our customers," said
Federal-Mogul Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dick Snell.

    Automotive Industries readers are engineering, design, manufacturing and
purchasing professionals involved in the automotive original equipment market.
To determine the "Best of the Best," the magazine mailed questionnaires to
subscribers, asking them to rank automotive suppliers on the critical issues
of quality, price, delivery, service/response and innovation.  Those suppliers
who consistently ranked high in the five criteria are placed among the "Best
of the Best" and receive the coveted "Quest for Excellence" Award.

    Federal-Mogul has received Automotive Industries' Quest for Excellence
Award in at least one category since the award's inception.  In 1998, Federal-
Mogul was recognized in the Engine/Powertrain Systems Category, and in 1999,
in the Seals and Gaskets and Engine Powertrain Systems categories.
