Subaru Outback Rendezvous Brings Outdoor Excitement to Colorado and Virginia

Outdoor Festival Comes to Ocean Journey Aquarium, Denver, Colo. And Lake Fairfax, Reston, Va.CHERRY HILL, N.J. - Subaru of America, Inc., a pioneer of crossover all- wheel drive vehicles designed for the active lifestyle driver, today announced upcoming dates for the Subaru Outback Rendezvous. This educational outdoor festival allows consumers to discover a variety of popular outdoor sports through a series of free demonstrations, exhibits and clinics. Outdoor sports and activities highlighted at the Subaru Outback Rendezvous include mountain biking, canoeing, rock climbing, kayaking, fly-fishing and camping. In addition, the new 2001 model year Subaru Outback H6-3.0 L.L.Bean Edition, along with the latest outdoor gear, will be on display for public viewing. The Subaru Outback Rendezvous takes place at the Ocean Journey Aquarium, Denver, Colo. on August 26-27, 2000 and at Lake Fairfax, Reston, Va. on September 9, 2000, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Subaru will host six educational activity areas staffed by Subaru outdoor partners including the American Canoe Association (ACA); canoe and kayak manufacturer, Dagger; the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA); mountain bike manufacturer, Specialized Bicycle Components; and outdoor conservancy organization, Leave No Trace (LNT). Highlighted activity areas include: -- Mountain Biking: Specialized Bicycle Components and the International Mountain Bicycling Association will head this activity area where visitors can learn how to land big jumps and fix their bikes along the trail. An obstacle course will be provided for participants to test their skills. -- Paddling: Canoes and kayaks will be available for the public to practice new power strokes and techniques. Led by the American Canoe Association and Dagger, the area will also have a "cartwheel machine" to test all comers. -- Kids Camp: Children ages 3-12 and their parents will be offered safe and fun activities, which include a local nature center exhibit with live animals, outdoor activities and face painting. -- Wilderness Skills: Guests will be invited to learn team building and problem solving skills as well as learn about outdoor ethics led by Leave No Trace. In this area, participants will also be given the opportunity to try their hand at fly-casting. Experts from L.L.Bean will lead this area in Virginia and local experts will take over in Denver, Colo. -- Rock Climbing: Visitors can learn basic climbing skills necessary to begin the sport. Two rock climbing walls from local climbing gyms will be available for participants to test their mettle under the supervision of instructors.
