SDRC Appoints PRI Automation, Inc. CEO to Board of Directors

    CINCINNATI - SDRC , a global supplier of e-business collaboration solutions for the product lifecycle, announced today that Mitchell G. Tyson, president and chief executive officer of PRI Automation Inc., has joined the Board of Directors of SDRC. PRI Automation, located in Billerica, MA, is the leader in advanced automation systems and software for the semiconductor industry.

    "Mitch Tyson has an enviable track record at PRI," said Bill Weyand, chairman and CEO, SDRC. "He led PRI's evolution from a $4 million manufacturer of robotic systems to the leading global supplier of factory automation systems and software forecasted to achieve over $300 million in revenue this year. Mitch's strong management skills are clearly reflected in PRI's dramatic growth, market momentum, and leadership position in automated systems for the semiconductor industry, a highly cyclical market. He understands the imperative and dynamics of time-to-market.     Tyson joined PRI Automation in 1987 as vice president of operations and was promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer in 1990. In 1995, he was named president and a member of the Board of Directors. In addition, Tyson currently is a member of the Board of Directors' of the Semiconductor Industry Suppliers Association of America; a member of the North American Advisory Board of SEMI (a trade association that represents the worldwide semiconductor equipment industry); and, a member of the Board of Directors' of the Massachusetts High Technology Council.

    Tyson holds a B.S. in physics (1975), an M.S. in political science (1978), and an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering (1978), all from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
