AutoZone Adds Board MemberMEMPHIS, Tenn., Aug. 7 John C. Adams Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of AutoZone, Inc. , announced today Charles M. Elson has been appointed to the company's board of directors, increasing the board from 11 to 12 members. Elson is the Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Professor of Corporate Governance and is director of the Center for Corporate Governance at the University of Delaware. He is also Of Counsel to the firm of Holland and Knight, LLP in Tampa, Florida. Currently, Elson is a Salvatori Fellow at the Heritage Foundation and serves on the board of directors of Nuevo Energy Corporation, Sunbeam Corporation and several non-profit organizations. Additionally, he serves on the Advisory Council of the National Association of Corporate Directors and is a director of the Investor Responsibility Research Center. Prior to his work with the University of Delaware, Elson was a professor at the Stetson University College of Law and is currently on leave from that institution. He continues to be a widely sought speaker in the field of corporate governance. "We're excited about welcoming Charles as an AutoZone board member," said Adams.
