SPX's INRANGE Technologies Subsidiary Acquires VARCOM Corporation
    MUSKEGON, Mich., Aug. 7 SPX Corporation today
announced that its INRANGE Technologies subsidiary has acquired VARCOM
Corporation.
    VARCOM, located in Fairfax, Virginia, is a provider of network management
hardware, software, and services.  Since 1992, INRANGE and VARCOM have
maintained a business relationship.  Two of VARCOM's key network management
offerings are fully integrated into INRANGE's Universal TouchPoint
Architecture(TM) (UTA), a management system used to monitor and assess quality
of service levels across the span of enterprise data networks.
    VARCOM recently announced its NetLook Application Performance Monitoring
System.  This system is a series of management probes that can monitor a
variety of applications within network traffic.  INRANGE is currently
integrating the NetLook Application Performance Monitoring System into its UTA
Architecture.
