TRACKS: Fonda Speedway Crowns Champions

Fonda, NY- Only three point shows remain at Fonda before the break for the annual Montgomery County Fair, August 29 - September 4.

Nations Rent Michael Waltrip Car on Display:

On August 12th , the Michael Waltrip Nations Rent sponsored Winston Cup car is coming to Fonda Speedway. Nations Rent recently joined the Fonda Speedway sponsorship family and will sponsor the night of racing for the Modifieds, Sportsman, Pro Stock, Street Stock and I.M.C.A. Modifieds. The car will be on display when the gates open at 4:00 p.m. on August 12th. Racing begins at 6:00 p.m.

Final Mid-Week Show will Crown 358-Mod Champ:

The August 17th mid-week special sponsored by Wm. Larned & Sons featuring the 358-Mods will mark the end of points for the special Fonda 358-Mod tour this season. Sportsman and the powder puff events are also on the card. Racing begins at 7:00 p.m.

BBL sponsors Night of Features and Crowning of Champions:

As if the final night of points at the "Track of Champions" on August 19th is not exciting enough, once again this year the racing action will be a Night of Features for Modifieds, Sportsman, Pro Stocks. The top fifteen in points in these divisions will be qualified. Qualified cars will be handicapped for the first of two features. The remaining cars will come from a "B" feature, heads up for spots 16 on down. The winners of the first features will draw for the number of positions to be inverted in the second feature. Additional spots will be filled with alternates from the B features. The Street Stock will run their regular A&B features and the IMCA will run a single feature. All features will award single points and at the end of the night the 2000 Fonda champions will be crowned.

"The Shoe" at Fonda:

One of the most popular drivers ever to turn a wheel at Fonda, Kenny "The Shoe" Shoemaker will be at Fonda on August 19th to meet and greet fans and sign copies of his brand new book, They Called Me "The Shoe".
