Collins & Aikman Names Shaw Plant Manager for Manchester, Michigan Facility
TROY, Mich. - Collins & Aikman Corporation today announced the promotion of Allen B. Shaw to Plant Manager for its Manchester, Mich. manufacturing facility.In making the announcement, Frank J. Preston, President of Collins & Aikman's North American Interior Systems said, "Shaw's knowledge of the Company's plastics operations will be a key asset as we build on our recent success and turn-around of the Manchester facility."
Shaw is replacing Mark Allen, who will be moving to a key position at the Company's global headquarters. Mr. Allen successfully launched and implemented the General Motors X270 program, in addition to making numerous improvements to the plant operations and management team. In continuing with these successes, Shaw will be responsible for continued implementation of the plant's operating strategy, ensuring consistency of manufacturing operations and identifying and implementing new product and process improvements. The Manchester facility employs approximately 800 individuals and produces interior trim systems for global automotive manufacturers.
Shaw joined Collins & Aikman in 1996 as Director of Planning and Scheduling for the Company's plastics operations. Prior to joining the Company, Shaw was Vice President -- Administration for Coulter Consulting Group, Inc. Before Coulter, Shaw was the Assistant Manager, Supplier Support Service for Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc. Shaw holds a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio.
