Prolong Announces Board and Management Appointments

IRVINE, Calif - Prolong International Corp. has announced board of directors and key management appointments for its Prolong Super Lubricants Inc. operating subsidiary.
Thomas C. Billstein, having served previously as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary has accepted new responsibilities as chief operating officer for Prolong Super Lubricants while retaining the titles of executive vice president and secretary.
Billstein, who has served as a member of the board of directors of the Irvine-based company since June 1995, is also a director of Prolong International, the parent company of Prolong Super Lubricants.
He is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach with a bachelor of science degree in business administration-finance, and a graduate of Whittier Law School. He is a member of the State Bar of California.
The responsibilities of Billstein will include the implementation of new business opportunities, which focus on existing company strengths, and the execution of business strategies, operating processes and general operations.
William J. Howell, who has served as a director of Prolong International and Prolong Super Lubricants since June 1999, has accepted the position of vice president and general counsel.
Howell, a longtime business law practitioner from San Diego, will oversee the company's internal and industry-related legal issues. He received a bachelor's degree in comparative literature from California State University, Long Beach in 1970 and a juris doctorate degree in 1976 from the University of San Diego, School of Law. Howell has been a member of the State Bar of California since 1976.
At the recent annual meeting of the shareholders of Prolong International, Bruce Barnes was re-elected as an outside member of the board of directors. Barnes is the president of Barnes Marketing Inc., an Irvine-based sports marketing and management corporation.
Prolong International further announced the election of R. Jack Aplin as a new outside member of the board of directors. From 1986 to 1989, Aplin served as president and chief executive officer of Spectramed Inc., an international medical products company. He is a current member of the board of directors of Newport Corp., a public company located in Irvine.
Robert G. Abdellah, vice president, corporate communications, has been additionally assigned investor relations responsibility for the company.
Prolong Super Lubricants manufactures and distributes a unique and patented line of lubrication products for automotive, industrial, marine and fleet applications, as well as an equally unique family of Prolong Appearance Products for similar applications. Its products are sold primarily through leading auto parts and major merchandise chain stores throughout the United States, Canada and other select international markets.
