Briggs & Stratton Increases Dividend

    MILWAUKEE - Briggs & Stratton Corporation :

    Briggs & Stratton Corporation has announced that its Board of Directors
has authorized an increase in its regular quarterly dividend from Thirty cents
($0.30) to Thirty-one cents ($0.31) per share.  The dividend is payable
October 2, 2000 to shareholders of record at the close of business on
August 24, 2000.
