Goodyear Elects Two to New PositionsAKRON, Ohio - Goodyear attorneys Bertram "Bert" Bell and Anthony E. "Tony" Miller have been elected assistant secretary and associate general counsel by the company's board of directors, according to Tom Harvie, senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. "Goodyear is fortunate to have senior level attorneys with the experience, knowledge and skills of Bert and Tony to fill these important positions," he said. "Strategic business unit attorneys will report to Tony and the specialist attorneys will report to Bert." The moves are effective immediately. Harvie said a successor for Miller, who currently is based in Brussels, Belgium, as counsel for Goodyear's European Union and Eastern Europe, Africa and Middle East business units, will be announced in the near future. Jonathan Dean, currently counsel for the Asia Region, also will assume responsibility for the Latin America Region. In 1986, he was named secretary and counsel of Goodyear Aerospace and, from 1987 to 1993, he was the vice president and counsel of Loral Defense Systems-Akron. In 1993, he returned to the law department at Goodyear and, since 1997, has worked with the company's Latin America business unit. Miller, who earned a law degree and MBA from Ohio State University, joined Goodyear in 1986 and became regional counsel for Europe in 1995 before moving to Brussels in his current position in 1999. Prior to coming to Goodyear, he was an attorney with American Electric Power and Columbus & Southern Ohio Electric Company, a subsidiary of AEP.
