American Suzuki Sales Continue to Build into Third Quarter

Suzuki Relies on Value-Packed Vehicles to Drive Sales Growth Instead of Cash Incentives

         

    BREA, Calif. - American Suzuki continued its year-to-date sales increase 
into the third quarter, selling 5,052 units for the month of July, an 18-percent 
increase over July 1999 sales.  The versatile Grand Vitara, heading into its 
third year of production, continues to sell well, posting 2,455 sales -- a 16-
percent increase over the same period last year.  The Esteem Sedan and Wagon 
posted a sales increase of 56 percent over July 1999 with 1,466 sales for the 
month.  The Vitara saw sales growth in July, notching a 5-percent increase in 
sales from 1999.

    "American Suzuki continues to see sales increases even without customer
cash incentives like those offered by many other manufacturers.  The everyday
pricing of our well-appointed cars and SUVs provides excellent value which
appeals to savvy buyers," said Gary Anderson, vice president of sales.
"Year-to-date, we are 34-percent above 1999 sales and expect sustained sales
increases throughout the remainder of the year."
