Subaru of America, Inc. Reports Record Sales for July

Brand Posts Best July Sales Month in 14 Years

    CHERRY HILL, N.J. - Subaru of America, Inc. today announced record sales 
figures for the month of July.  Subaru recorded a sales total of 15,041 units 
for the month, an increase of 14 percent from the same period last year.  Subaru 
continues to post strong sales increases, with year-to-date totals of 98,392 
units, up 15 percent from 1999 year-to-date totals of 85,478 units.  This marks 
the company's best July total sales month since 1986.

    The Legacy model line led sales with 7,955 units posted, up 13 percent
from July 1999 Legacy sales of 7,020 units and the best July ever for the
Legacy model line.  Outback accounted for 5,661 units for the month, up
12 percent from July 1999.  Forester posted sales of 5,252 units for the
month, an increase of 22 percent from the same period in 1999 and the second
best sales month ever for this model.  Impreza accounted for 1,834 units for
the month of July.
