2 August 2000

July Sales Up 31% Over Last Year

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. - Hyundai Motor America today announced sales of
23,566 vehicles for the month of July, up 31 percent from one year ago. "July
sales were outstanding; it was our best sales month since August of 1988. July
sales would have been higher if vehicle availability was better. Still, we are
on track to reach our goal of 220,000 units sold in 2000," said Robert Cosmai,
vice-president of sales for Hyundai Motor America.

"Elantra continues to be the volume leader for Hyundai with sales of
10,570 units in July. Elantra sales year-to-date are up 59 percent over last
year," Cosmai said. "Our flagship Sonata continues to show large sales
increases with 4,989 units sold, up 55 percent from last year.

"The Hyundai product line is nearly all-new and all our vehicles are
backed with The Hyundai Advantage, America's Best Warranty which includes our
10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty," Cosmai added. "In
addition, our dealers are really focused on the franchise and their enthusiasm
for the brand is paying off with increased sales."
