Allied Holdings Announces Strategic RealignmentDECATUR, Ga. - Allied Holdings, Inc. announced today that it is realigning to establish a corporate structure that streamlines its organization and provides greater capabilities to meet customer expectations and increase shareholder value. These changes are effective immediately. Allied Holdings, Inc. will eliminate three service companies -- Allied Industries, Haul Risk Management, and Link Information Systems -- and align those resources into the two remaining operating companies; Allied Automotive Group and Axis Group. Allied Automotive Group is the largest automotive transporter and distributor in North America. Axis Group provides logistics solutions, on a global basis, across the entire automotive supply chain. "This realignment creates a more effective organizational structure and is part of our strategic initiative to manage our businesses in a cost-efficient manner that creates a fair value for shareholders," said A. Mitchell Poole Jr., vice chairman and CEO of Allied Holdings, Inc. "We remain committed to our vision of being the leading global provider of transportation and distribution services to the automotive industry and will continue to identify methods to improve our financial performance and reduce expenses in every area." "Allied Automotive Group and Axis Group will have improved decision-making capabilities, and total accountability for customer service and other critical performance issues," added Randall E. West, president and COO of Allied Holdings, Inc. "The two operating companies will also have their own financial, human resource, and information technology assets required to be more competitive in today's automotive marketplace." Allied Holdings, Inc. is the parent company of several subsidiaries engaged in providing logistics, distribution and transportation services to the automotive industry. The services of Allied's subsidiaries span the entire finished vehicle distribution continuum, and include logistics, car- hauling, intramodal transport, inspection, accessorization, and dealer prep. Allied, through its subsidiaries, is the largest company in North America specializing in the delivery of new and used vehicles.
