2001 Accord Gets New Styling, Enhanced Safety and Greater Refinement

TORRANCE, Calif - The new Accord for 2001 model year benefits from
freshened styling, a longer list of standard features and enhanced safety
performance, further broadening its appeal as one of the best-selling cars in
America. Available in Sedan and Coupe body styles, the Accord remains the
benchmark in its class for quality, safety, sophisticated engineering,
refinement and value.

In the area of passenger safety, all 2001 model Accords now employ
advanced dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags that monitor seatbelt use
and crash severity and adjust bag deployment force accordingly. In addition,
all 2001 model Accords are equipped with advanced side airbags as standard
equipment on all V6 and 4-cylinder EX models. For Accord DX and LX models,
advanced side airbags are available as optional equipment. This advanced new
system prevents the passenger side airbag from deploying if a child or
small-stature adult is leaning into the side airbag deployment path.

The Accord Sedan and Coupe also boast fresh exterior styling for 2001.
Sedan models feature a new, more sharply chiseled front fascia and hood along
with a new taillight and rear deck lid design, while the sporting character of
the Accord coupe is enhanced by more aggressive front and rear bumper styling,
body-colored front grille and new alloy wheel designs.

Recognized for its sophisticated performance and refined ride quality, the
new Accord also benefits from more than 20 engineering refinements that
further reduce road and wind noise for an even more comfortable and quiet
driving experience.

All Accords sold nationwide meet or exceed California's Low Emissions
Vehicle (LEV) standards, including one model sold in California that meets
Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) standards, the most stringent
standard in the world.

Additional new features for 2001 include body-colored side moldings and
illuminated power window switches on all Accord models except the DX sedan.
Standard equipment on all EX model Accords now includes floormats and AM/FM
stereo with in-dash 6-disc CD player, while all V6 Accords now come equipped
with Honda's TCS traction control system.

The Accord DX sedan is powered by a 135-horsepower, 2.3-liter, 16-valve
4-cylinder engine, while LX and EX versions feature a VTEC version of the
engine producing 150-horsepower and 152 pounds-feet of torque. Accord V6
models are powered by a LEV-rated 3.0-liter VTEC V6 delivering 200-horsepower
and 195 pounds-feet of torque. All Accord engines require no tune-up for the
first 105,000 miles.

A sophisticated double-wishbone front and rear suspension delivers a
supple ride in combination with nimble and precise handling. All Accords
feature variable-assist power steering with an adjustable steering column,
intermittent windshield wipers, dual power remote control mirrors, rear window
defrosters, fold-down seatback and an Immobilizer anti-theft system.

The Accord LX, the most popular Accord model, adds a six-speaker AM/FM
stereo with in-dash CD player. LX models feature a new wheel cover design and
models with anti-lock brakes feature an exclusive new alloy wheel design.

Accord EX models come equipped with standard side airbags, cruise control,
power moonroof, remote security and keyless entry and auto-off headlights.
Additional new features include a three-in-one stereo with AM/FM, cassette and
in-dash 6-disk CD player. EX models feature a new alloy wheel design. Accord
4-cylinder EX models with leather interior include steering wheel mounted
audio controls, a new feature for 2001.

Features exclusive to the premium Accord EX V6 are leather interior and
wood trim, a fully automatic climate control system and programmable
HomeLink(R) universal remote control for garage and home security systems.
New for 2001 is a 4-way power passenger seat to compliment the 8-way power
driver's seat.

All Accords feature a high strength body and subframe, side impact door
beams, 5-mph bumpers and adjustable three-point seatbelts in all five seating
positions. In addition, all new Accords feature the LATCH (Lower Anchors and
Tethers for CHildren) child seat tether system and an illuminated
anti-entrapment trunk release.

The Accord has been recognized as one of Car and Driver magazine's "10
Best" cars for a record 14 consecutive years. Intellichoice picked the 2000
Accord as the most affordable vehicle in its class as measured by total
ownership cost.
