New Penn Recognized by The Home Depot in Carrier of the Year Awards

LEBANON, Pa. - New Penn Motor Express, Inc., a subsidiary of Arnold Industries, Inc., was one of three less-than-truckload carriers in North America to be recognized by The Home Depot for service excellence during the Carrier of the Year awards ceremony held recently in Atlanta.

To receive this recognition New Penn outperformed all other less-than-truckload (LTL) core carriers serving the Northeast region, and several excellent LTL carriers serving other regions of the US.

Each year The Home Depot measures its LTL carriers on service quality and recognizes those that perform at the highest levels. Performance measures include surveys completed by receiving department and regional transportation associates, on-time delivery, speed of transit, freight claims, safety, EDI usage and billing accuracy.

"High-performing motor carriers like New Penn help Home Depot get the right products to our customers, where and when they need them," said Home Depot Sr. Transportation Manager, Melanie Gray. "We rely on New Penn for claim-free, next-day delivery."

"We are honored to receive this award because to excel as measured by the Home Depot truly requires a team effort. Every aspect of our service has to be strong and each of our committed employees in operations, sales and administrative positions has to do their part," said New Penn Executive Vice President, Stephen O'Kane.

"The Home Depot continues to raise the performance bar, as do other customers. New Penn takes great pride in receiving this recognition as it is tangible evidence that we are meeting the changing needs of our customers and providing a superior level of service," added O'Kane.

Founded in 1978, The Home Depot operates 1002 stores in North and South America. Fortune magazine named Home Depot to its Top 10 list of most admired companies in America in 2000. Home Depot's stock is publicly traded and is included in the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Standard & Poor's 500 Index.

New Penn Motor Express, Inc. is a regional less-than-truckload motor carrier providing reliable next-day service through a network of 23 terminal facilities located in the Northeastern United States, Quebec, Canada and Puerto Rico. Annual revenues were $215 million in 1999. New Penn has over 2000 employees and operates a fleet of 800 tractors and 1,600 trailers.
