Subaru and Philadelphia Roll Out the Red Carpet For Republican National Convention

Philadelphia Area Company Invites Delegates to Hometown CelebrationCHERRY HILL, N.J. - Subaru of America, Inc., a pioneer of crossover all-wheel drive vehicles designed for the active lifestyle driver, supports its hometown with the sponsorship of a variety of activities for Philadelphia's Host Committee and delegates attending the 2000 Republican National Convention. The weeklong series of events highlight the company's commitment to the Greater Philadelphia community. During the week of the convention, Subaru will offer the Subaru Historic Philadelphia Bike Tour highlighting some of the most notable sites in Philadelphia along its route. Subaru has contributed bikes, helmets, guides and police escorts for the tours that are open to delegates. Subaru is also donating water for distribution to the Philadelphia Police Department on patrol in Center City and supplying water to convention delegates and the public at special Subaru water stations set up throughout the city. The RNC takes place from July 31 to August 3 in Philadelphia, Pa. Subaru sponsored hometown highlights include: -- Subaru Historic Philadelphia Bike Tour: Subaru showcases its civic pride in its hometown community with daily bike tours offered every half hour from 8:30-11:00 a.m. from July 31-August 5. During the 45-minute tour of historic Philadelphia, cyclists follow a route past Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin's Grave and Betsy Ross' House. Each tour group will be accompanied by two police officers and a professional tour guide. -- Water Distribution to the Philadelphia Police Department: Keep an eye out for Subaru employees in Subaru Outback and Forester models distributing water to police officers on duty in Center City during the RNC. -- Subaru Volunteer Team: Subaru employees will be stationed at Love Plaza, Foglietta Park and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway providing water and rest areas for nearly 45,000 visitors and 12,000 convention volunteers as they enjoy the City of Brotherly Love. -- Make It a Night: Subaru invites residents of the Philadelphia area and visitors to enjoy three live outdoor concerts at a "special" Make It a Night. Live music can be heard at the Gallery, City Hall and Liberty Place. Beginning July 24, commercial spots announcing the company's hometown welcome can be seen on local network and cable spots throughout the week.
