SPX Service Solutions Announces Instructor of the Year Award Sponsorship at AYES Annual ConferenceWARREN, Mich. - SPX Service Solutions, a unit of SPX Corporation, announced today it will sponsor the SPX/Automotive Youth Educational Systems Instructor of the Year award. Bob Wiegand, vice president of the SPX Service Solutions OE Automotive Group shared the news with over 250 instructors from around the country participating in the annual conference in Troy, Michigan. Automotive Youth Educational Systems is a large-scale school-to-career effort to address the needs of retail automotive dealerships. AYES is a dynamic partnership among participating automotive manufacturers, participating dealerships and selected local high schools/vocational schools to encourage students with mechanical aptitude to pursue careers in the ever- changing field of automotive technology to prepare them for entry-level positions or challenging academic options. Participating instructors meet annually to review curriculum and learning objectives. The Instructor of the Year award will recognize an educator with exemplary contributions to learning, leadership and personal guidance to students in automotive professional and technical fields beginning with the fall, 2000 academic term. Bob Wiegand commented, "SPX Service Solutions will sponsor the award as part of its long-term commitment to furthering education in the automotive field." The company pledged earlier in the year a multiple year commitment of $25,000 annually to invest in training program development for AYES. Don Gray, AYES president said, "The establishment of the Instructor of the Year award helps to build awareness of our program and provides good recognition for our instructors; we're honored to have SPX as the official sponsor." AYES will release the specific award criteria later in the year. The first Instructor of the Year will be announced at the 2001 annual conference.
