NASCAR WWEST: Woodside Plans to Be There at the End at Irwindale Speedway

27 July 2000

July 27, 2000 (Palmdale, Calif.) - Sean Woodside, driver of the REF Motorsports
#4 Pontiac in the Featherlite Southwest Series, NASCAR Touring, and the
REF team expect tire management to be the overriding factor in this Saturday
evening's Food 4 Less 150 at Irwindale Speedway.

Although the 150-lap race will be the longest event the Southwest Series
has run at Irwindale to date, Woodside could have an edge over the Series
regulars. His 1999 championship season in the Winston West series included
two 250-lap events at the track dubbed "L.A.'s 1/2-mile Super Speedway."

"Tires will be very critical," commented Woodside. "Whoever's the best
at saving them will win. We always seem to be around at the end. This
time, we'll have the extra 25 laps we could have used at Tucson and Mesa
Marin."

In both the March race at Tucson Raceway Park and the most recent meet
at Mesa Marin Raceway, Woodside was bearing down for the win during the
final laps, but simply ran out of time. He settled for second place at
Tucson and third place at Mesa Marin.

Team owner Bob Farmer agrees that the length of the race makes tire management
the number one priority.

"Our big concern will be keeping tires under the car," Farmer noted.
"Sean's got the experience of running the longer Winston West races at
Irwindale, which will help a lot. We'll use what he learned to set up
and run conservatively, so we're there at the end."
