Condor Launches New Data Systems & Solutions Internet Aero Engine Service

ALDERSHOT, England - A new internet-based service which monitors aero engines
in service to improve operating efficiency has been launched by Data Systems &
Solutions, a joint venture between Rolls-Royce plc and Science Applications
International Corporation, it was announced today at Farnborough 2000.

Condor Flugdienst, Germany's largest inclusive tour operator airline, will
be the launch customer for enginedatacenter.com. From 1 August, 2000,
condition monitoring data from Condor's Boeing 757-300 fleet will be available
online whenever required by their powerplant engineers. The data from the
Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4-B engines that power the aircraft will also be
accessible by the Rolls-Royce support team.

Via enginedatacenter.com, engine health monitoring (EHM) services are
available around the clock to powerplant engineering teams. The new service
allows engine condition to be monitored online and parts tracking to be
undertaken in advance, improving fleet maintenance planning, reducing
passenger flight delays and saving costs for airlines. Airline fleet and
maintenance managers can access enginedatacenter.com to review secure engine
performance data from any Internet source, at work or at home.

"We believe that enginedatacenter.com will provide Condor with real
advantages due to being able to access engine health reports and get help with
diagnosis and trouble shooting via the web. We are hoping to being able to
use other predictive services from Data Systems & Solutions, such as engine
records management, through this innovative system in the future", said
Mr Klaus Reymer, Manager of Boeing Aircraft Engineering and Production
Planning for Condor.

Steve Redden, Director of Predictive Services for Data Systems &
Solutions, said, "We are delighted to be working with such a progressive
partner as Condor in developing our EHM service. Condor was our first major
customer for EHM services and I am pleased they are continuing to take
advantage of the latest IT advances. enginedatacenter.com is giving real time
feedback of engine performance, which is creating the potential for huge
operational cost benefits. This world class service is now available to
operators of all Rolls-Royce engines."

enginedatacenter.com is also one of the services available through the new
Rolls-Royce e-commerce portal, aeromanager, which gives airlines instant
access to a wide range of engine aftermarket services. Rolls-Royce has
launched the first trial of aeromanager at Farnborough 2000 and more
information on aeromanager and enginedatacenter.com is available from the
Rolls-Royce Total Care Lounge at Farnborough, Stand number G1, Hall 4.

    Notes

Data Systems & Solutions, based in Reston, Virginia, USA, currently
provides EHM services for more than 900 aero engines in service with

customers using EHM will access them via the Internet.
