Siemens and Automation Alley Ready Motown for the Hard Drive

25 July 2000

Siemens Automotive Opens the Doors to its New Automation Alley Facility

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - Siemens Automotive officially opened the doors to its
newest engineering and administrative campus facility today during an open house
held for customers and Automation Alley business and community leaders.

Construction on the new, three-story, 77,000-square-foot building in Troy,
Mich. was completed last month and is the third expansion by Siemens
Automotive in the Detroit area in as many years. Siemens opened a 65,000-
square-foot Dearborn Campus in the fall of 1998 and recently completed a
66,000-square-foot expansion of its North American headquarters in Auburn
Hills.

"Electrical-Electronics systems and components represent the fastest
growing segment of the automotive industry and no other company worldwide
invests more in electrical-electronics engineering than Siemens," said Siemens
Automotive Vice President John Sanderson. "Much of that investment is
occurring here in Motown, as opposed to the usual technology corridors of the
world. The Troy Campus is in the heart of Automation Alley and better
positions us to be leaders in this field by increasing our research and
development capabilities and helping us attract the highly skilled workforce
residing in this emerging high-tech region."

Referred to as the Troy Campus, the facility nearly has reached its total
capacity of approximately 250 people. This new addition to the Automation
Alley neighborhood is located in a Troy office park near the intersection of
Crooks and Long Lake Roads. Siemens is the sole tenant of the building under
a ten-year lease contract.

"The Siemens Automotive Troy Campus is another shining example of global
companies expanding their roots in Oakland county, making it the world's
leading center for the fusion of high-tech industries," said Oakland County
Executive L. Brooks Patterson.

"Having a leader in technology research and development like Siemens
Automotive choosing Oakland County as its site for continued expansion
embodies what Automation Alley is all about," said Patterson.

Siemens Automotive is a tier-one supplier of automotive and electrical-
electronic systems and components with applications covering gasoline and
diesel powertrain systems, safety and chassis systems, body electronics,
electric motor drives and driver information systems. Worldwide sales in
fiscal year 1998/1999 totaled $3.6 billion. Siemens Automotive is an
operating unit of Siemens AG, the world's second leading manufacturer or
electronics capital goods.

Siemens Automotive is a foundation member of the Oakland County Automation
Alley. The Automation Alley initiative is designed to help expand area
awareness and cultivate high tech industry growth.
