Delphi Receives Business-Childcare Award

    TROY, Mich. - Delphi Automotive Systems operations in Kokomo and Anderson, 
Ind., recently received Business-Childcare Awards from the Indiana Department of 
Commerce.  Lt. Governor Joe Kernan presented the inaugural award to Delphi Delco 
Electronics Systems and Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems for excellence in 
childcare.

    The award, established by the Indiana Department of Commerce's Community
Development Division, honors companies that excel in the following categories:
on-site childcare facilities; near-site childcare facilities; monetary
contribution provided to assist in childcare options; resource and referral;
health-care and time-off options; sliding fees and education provided to
parents for childcare.

    Delphi officials accepted the award at a celebration at the Indiana
Statehouse in Indianapolis.

    Delphi Delco Electronics Systems, Kokomo, Ind., was recognized for
providing the MicroChips Learning Center, an on-site childcare facility for
parents with pre-school age children.

    Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems, Anderson, Ind., received the award for
providing a joint UAW-Delphi-sponsored on-site childcare resource and referral
program, summer camps and support groups for parents and grandparents.
Delphi was also noted for offering flexible spending accounts for childcare
expenses and flexible work arrangements that include part-time/job-sharing,
telecommuting and compressed workweeks.  Also, Delphi employees can access up
to $5,000 in financial aid for adoption and utilize a scholarship plan, which
provides up to $1,000 per year per dependent, to attend post secondary
classes.

    "The needs of families are continually changing," said Kevin R. Clancey,
general director of Human Resources for Delphi Delco Electronics Systems.
"The well being of our employees is an important part of successfully running
our business."
