Timken Introduces New Packaging for MileMate Sets

CANTON, Ohio - The Timken Company has introduced a new package design for
its MileMate matched wheel bearing sets used in the heavy-duty trucking industry.

The carton style is the same as was previously used, but with new, more
modern graphics that emphasize the Timken brand for easy recognition in the
marketplace. The new design builds upon the familiar black and orange color
combination and prominent Timken logo.

"The design is part of a larger effort to create a common, more
recognizable packaging and better reflect the innovative, highly-engineered
nature of our products," said Karl P. Kimmerling, president - automotive.

To accommodate a growing global product offering, new graphics are being
implemented on all Timken(R) product packaging by the end of 2000. "This
consistent packaging reinforces the quality standard behind every Timken-
branded product. If a product is marked Timken(R), our customers can be sure
that it meets our rigorous quality and performance standards no matter what
the application," said Mr. Kimmerling.

Each MileMate matched wheel bearing set package contains a matching cone
and cup made from Timken(R) steel. These sets of truck and trailer bearings
are designed for reliable performance and longer maintenance intervals.

The Timken Company is a leading international manufacturer of highly
engineered bearings and alloy steels with operations in 24 countries. The
company employs about 21,000 people worldwide and reported 1999 sales of U.S.
$2.5 billion.
