Rolls-Royce Rolls Out New Internet Engine ServiceDERBY, England - Rolls-Royce is launching the first trial its new e-business portal, known as aeromanager, which gives airlines instant internet access to a wide range of engine aftermarket services, at Farnborough 2000 (July 24 - 30). aeromanager is an interactive web-based service providing tailor-made fleet management solutions to the aviation industry. The launch of the trial continues the implementation of e-business and information service by Rolls-Royce to support its customers. Airlines will have 24-hour access to the extensive portfolio of Rolls-Royce Total Care services, providing them with enhanced flexibility and a fast efficient transaction process. The new aeromanager portal is designed by Data Systems & Solutions, a 50:50 joint venture between Rolls-Royce and San Diego-based Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). John Cheffins, Rolls-Royce Managing Director, Airlines, said: "The launch of aeromanager is a direct result of listening carefully to the needs of our customers. The facilities on offer will allow operators unprecedented flexibility to manage their engine fleet operations based on the availability of timely accurate information." Among the features available through aeromanager is enginedatacenter.com, a customised internet gateway to the suite of engine information services provided by Data Systems & Solutions, providing operators with precise real-time analysis on the status of their fleets. Enginedatacenter.com will become the preferred means by which Data Systems & Solutions will deliver services to Rolls-Royce and its customers. Nine hundred engines in service with 25 airlines are currently under management with Data Systems & Solutions. In addition, engine leasing is available through aeromanager and customers will be able to obtain information on repair and overhaul slots online and check their progress through the workshop. Surplus inventory information will be accessed by the touch of a button and airlines can also benefit from a central library of technical publications and service bulletins on aero engine products, as well as up-to-date technical papers and an online industry news service. Trials of aeromanager are currently being conducted with an airline user group. Full commercial launch will follow progressively as both the scope of the project and the customer base grow. Data Systems & Solutions is equally owned by Rolls-Royce and SAIC and began operations in 1999. It provides predictive maintenance technologies and integrated asset management solutions to aerospace, defence and energy clients to help enable industry professionals to focus on their core business. The company, based in Reston, Virginia, USA, currently provides engine health monitoring (EHM) for more than 900 engines in service with 25 airlines. It employs approximately 450 engineers, information technologists and other professionals in the United States, the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic.
