Rolls-Royce Rolls Out New Internet Engine Service

DERBY, England - Rolls-Royce is launching the first trial its new e-business
portal, known as aeromanager, which gives airlines instant internet access to a
wide range of engine aftermarket services, at Farnborough 2000 (July 24 - 30).

aeromanager is an interactive web-based service providing tailor-made
fleet management solutions to the aviation industry. The launch of the trial
continues the implementation of e-business and information service by
Rolls-Royce to support its customers.

Airlines will have 24-hour access to the extensive portfolio of
Rolls-Royce Total Care services, providing them with enhanced flexibility and
a fast efficient transaction process.

The new aeromanager portal is designed by Data Systems & Solutions, a
50:50 joint venture between Rolls-Royce and San Diego-based Science
Applications International Corporation (SAIC).

John Cheffins, Rolls-Royce Managing Director, Airlines, said: "The launch
of aeromanager is a direct result of listening carefully to the needs of our
customers. The facilities on offer will allow operators unprecedented
flexibility to manage their engine fleet operations based on the availability
of timely accurate information."

Among the features available through aeromanager is enginedatacenter.com,
a customised internet gateway to the suite of engine information services
provided by Data Systems & Solutions, providing operators with precise
real-time analysis on the status of their fleets.

Enginedatacenter.com will become the preferred means by which Data Systems
& Solutions will deliver services to Rolls-Royce and its customers. Nine
hundred engines in service with 25 airlines are currently under management
with Data Systems & Solutions.

In addition, engine leasing is available through aeromanager and customers
will be able to obtain information on repair and overhaul slots online and
check their progress through the workshop.

Surplus inventory information will be accessed by the touch of a button
and airlines can also benefit from a central library of technical publications
and service bulletins on aero engine products, as well as up-to-date technical
papers and an online industry news service.

Trials of aeromanager are currently being conducted with an airline user
group. Full commercial launch will follow progressively as both the scope of
the project and the customer base grow.

Data Systems & Solutions is equally owned by Rolls-Royce and SAIC and
began operations in 1999. It provides predictive maintenance technologies and
integrated asset management solutions to aerospace, defence and energy clients
to help enable industry professionals to focus on their core business.

The company, based in Reston, Virginia, USA, currently provides engine
health monitoring (EHM) for more than 900 engines in service with 25 airlines.
It employs approximately 450 engineers, information technologists and other
professionals in the United States, the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic.
