Floundering Autoweb.com Does Executive Shuffle

Q2 Loss Increases 100% Over Same Period Last YearSANTA CLARA, Calif. - Desperately seeking ways to recover from its plunging stock prices and increasing losses, Autoweb.com, Inc. announced on Thursday that Samuel Hedgpeth, the company's president and COO, has been named to the additional post of chief executive officer. Hedgpeth assumes the CEO title from Autoweb's Chairman Dean DeBiase. Hedgpeth has been president and COO of Autoweb.com since November 1999. He joined the company in September 1997 as vice president, finance and administration, treasurer and CFO. DeBiase has served as chairman and CEO of Autoweb.com since November 1999. DeBiase joined the company in December 1998. Other changes to Autoweb includes the announcement today that Nadyne G. Edison has joined the company in the newly created position of chief marketing officer and vice president of customer relationship management (CRM). Edison was formerly director of New Media Marketing at General Motors Corporation, and most recently served as vice president of strategic development for Automotive CRM at EDS, Inc. Autoweb also announced the appointment of Thomas Stone as vice president of corporate strategy. Stone was formerly the CFO, a role that will be temporarily assumed by John Peters, the company's vice president of finance.
