Johnson Controls, Electronic Systems USA Win Continental Airlines Facility Contract at Newark Airport

MILWAUKEE - Johnson Controls, Inc. and its Electronic Systems USA, Inc.
subsidiary will install the latest in building automation systems for
Continental Airlines at Newark International Airport.

The Johnson Controls and ESUSA combination creates cost savings for
Continental by integrating the existing facility controls infrastructure with
modern direct digital controls equipment.

The contracts, totaling $2.05 million, include:

-- A new Metasys(R) Building Automation System for control of several new
air handling units and variable air volume boxes.
-- An ESUSA UNITY(TM) multi-vendor platform interface for integrating two
subsystems, including existing Honeywell equipment, with the new
       Metasys system.
-- A five-year preventative maintenance service agreement covering the
       existing building controls system.

The Continental Airlines Global Gateway construction program at Newark
International involves construction of a new concourse, including 12 wide body
aircraft gates, a baggage handling system, a new federal inspection service
center and improvements to parking, concessions, restaurants and restrooms.
Completion is planned for 2001.

Continental, the nation's fifth largest airline, handles 18 million
passengers annually at Newark International, one of the carrier's three major
hubs.

"ESUSA's outstanding specialty engineering capabilities helped us provide
Continental Airlines with the integration expertise required for this
important project," said Brian Stark, president of the Controls business at
Johnson Controls. "This is yet another example of how Johnson Controls
regularly exceeds customer expectations."

ESUSA, headquartered in Louisville, Ky., manufactures and distributes

company maintains and upgrades HVAC, fire/life safety, security and third
party energy management systems.
