Second Major Facility in County: iMotors.com Expands in Sacramento

21 July 2000

Opens New Call Center to Support National Growth

SAN FRANCISCO - iMotors.com, the nation's first online used car company, this week launched its second major facility in Sacramento County with the opening of a large, state-of-the-art, customer care call center designed to support the retailer's aggressive national expansion program. iMotors allows consumers to custom-order the exact used car they want over the internet or via phone.

Due to customer demand and rapid expansion, the customer care center, outgrew its original location at the company's Vehicle Certification Center in Elk Grove. The new 26,000-square-foot center at 1740 North Market Street in Sacramento, will initially employ 100 employees, and has the capability of accommodating 400.

iMotors has outfitted the customer care center with a state-of-the-art, integrated communication system, designed to be able to handle over 50,000 customer phone inquiries a month. Employing an automatic call distributor system at the facility, iMotors will be able to automatically route incoming calls from specific customers to specific customer care associates -- even if that associate is based at a different location.

"iMotors is completely focused on the customer so we're constantly refining our process and seeking ways to add more value for the customer," said President Beth VanStory. "All communication has to work for the customer, provide easy interaction, and exceed their expectations. This new center ensures we can continue our rapid expansion while ensuring we deliver a quality customer experience to each and every customer who inquires."

The opening of the Sacramento customer care center comes about as iMotors expands eastward. After launching iMotors Delivery Centers up and down the West coast, the ten-month old company inaugurated its service in the New York City area in June and the Atlanta area earlier this month. Additional markets to be opened this year include: Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Ft. Myers, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Miami, Orlando, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, and Washington, DC. iMotors is serving its Eastern and Southeastern customers through newly opened Vehicle Certification Centers in Cincinnati and Atlanta.

Here's how iMotors works:

-- A customer specifies the year (1995-1999) make, model, options and color preferences he/she wants and places an order with a $250 fully refundable deposit via the web site, www.imotors.com, or by calling 1-888-IMOTORS (466-8677).
-- iMotors' nationwide network of experienced buyers finds and buys the vehicle that meets the customer's specifications and iMotors' high quality standards.
-- iMotors transports the vehicle to one of its state-of-the-art Vehicle Certification Centers where ASE and I-CAR certified technicians test, inspect and certify the vehicle. iMotors makes needed repairs, replaces parts, and performs preventative maintenance, bringing the vehicle back up to like-new standards both mechanically and cosmetically.
-- iMotors delivers the car to the customer at the nearest, licensed iMotors Delivery Center. The customer reviews the vehicle, takes a test drive and signs all remaining paperwork. iMotors backs every vehicle with a 3-month/3,000-mile comprehensive warranty, a 7-day/700-mile money-back guarantee, and an AutoBiography(SM), detailing the vehicle's history.
