carOrder.com to Debut Extended Service Contracts Pilot Program in California, New York
AUSTIN, Texas--July 19, 2000--carOrder.com(TM), the nation's leading online car buying service, today announced a pilot program making extended service contracts a purchasing option for its customers.
The two extended warranty programs, HighRoad and HighRoad Plus, initially will be offered to residents of California and New York and will be administered through Interstate National Dealer Services .
"Both HighRoad and HighRoad Plus programs were designed to provide our customers with the best available extended warranty options," said carOrder.com president and co-founder, Brian Stafford. "With the help of Interstate, we have given carOrder.com drivers the opportunity to keep their cars running with the highest level of convenience and confidence."
The carOrder.com HighRoad program will consist of a 6-year/ 72,000 mile extended service contract while the HighRoad Plus program will be for 6-years/ 100,000 miles. Both products cover vehicle components after the expiration of the manufacturer's warranty. Benefits such as roadside assistance, car rental reimbursement, and travel interruption protection begin immediately.
Both carOrder's HighRoad and HighRoad Plus programs were created with two unique features with respect to the handling of repairs. Under this program consumers are free to have repairs made from any licensed repair shop within the United States and Canada, not just at a required dealership. Also, unlike other coverage programs, HighRoad has a "wear-and-tear" provision that covers major car components including the engine, transmission, steering, electrical, brakes, and other items that may wear out prematurely.
carOrder.com plans to make HighRoad and HighRoad Plus programs available to consumers in other states in coming months.
