CarParts.com Number One With Consumers; Massive Online Catalog Provides 2.5 Million Car Products, Drives Online Sales and Top Rankings by Major Net Rating Services

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--July 18, 2000--Consumers and e-commerce experts agree, CarParts.com is the world's leading provider of replacement parts as well as performance and accessory products online for cars, trucks, vans and SUVs.
Offering more than 2.5 million parts and accessories through an easy-to-use site, CarParts.com has emerged as the clear leader in selection, service and simplicity.
Launched in April 1999, CarParts.com has grown exponentially, expanding its massive integrated parts catalog with features that consumers want most including the largest online catalog of vehicle accessories and performance parts, certified mechanics, tools and shop supplies, OEM parts, restoration and recycled parts and more.
As a result, CarParts.com has recorded double- and triple-digit monthly growth in online sales and unique visitors respectively. In fact, CarParts.com is ranked number one among automotive parts sites and is ranked seventh among ALL automotive Web sites.
"Our goal at CarParts.com is to offer the widest selection of auto-related products available anywhere and to make it easy for consumers to locate and order those parts," said Michelle Quinn, CarParts.com vice president of Consumer Marketing.
"Third-party evaluations, from consumers to net ratings, tell us we're on the right track," Quinn said. "Our challenge will be to continue to deliver this high level of consumer satisfaction as we expand our catalog and our customer base."
According to PC Data Online, one of three Internet ranking services to rate CarParts.com number one among automotive parts sites, CarParts.com recorded an increase in monthly unique visits of more than 1,100 percent since it began tracking the site in July 1999. PC Data Online is the largest Internet usage research panel in the industry, tracking the Web sites visited-and the duration of those visits by more than 120,000 participants.
Other Internet monitoring services ranking CarParts.com number one include the Nielsen NetRating Report and Media Metrix. CarParts.com has consistently attracted more than twice the number of unique visitors as its two nearest competitors combined in eight of the last nine months, according to Nielsen, which collects real-time data from more than 65,000 panel members (57,000 at-home users and 8,000 at-work users) across the United States.
Unique visits are, of course, only half the story. CarParts.com has also scored well in customer satisfaction. The site recently received a four-star rating from BizRate.com, an independent rating guide that surveys millions of consumers regarding their online buying experience. BizRate.com is an unbiased, independent rating guide built on the experience of millions of actual online buyers.
The BizRate.com survey asked CarParts.com customers to rate the site for 10 different categories, including ease of ordering, product selection, product information, price, Web site (design), on-time delivery, product representation, customer support, privacy policies and shipping and handling. Although no site has ever received a five-star rating, CarParts.com received 4 stars overall for ease of ordering, service and selection.
