PPG Combines Aircraft Businesses to Better Serve Aviation Industry
PITTSBURGH--July 17, 2000--PPG Industries today announced that it is combining its aircraft transparency and aerospace coatings and sealants businesses to form a new unit, aerospace products."We believe a unified strategy is the best method for creating greater value for the commercial, military and general aviation industries we serve," said Charles E. Bunch, executive vice president for coatings.
Dennis Kovalsky, formerly vice president, aerospace coatings and sealants, will lead the combined business from Glendale, Calif., becoming vice president, aerospace products. Kovalsky will continue to report to Bunch. Bob Moore, general manager, aircraft glass products, will remain in Huntsville, Ala., and report to Kovalsky.
PPG is the world's leading manufacturer of original equipment and replacement aircraft windshields and windows. PRC-DeSoto International, which PPG acquired last year, is a global supplier of coatings and sealants to the aircraft industry.
Founded in 1883, PPG is a worldwide supplier of coatings, fiber glass, glass and chemicals with production operations in 22 countries. Sales exceeded US$7.7 billion in 1999.
