3,000 SDRC Metaphase Users in Production at Renault
CINCINNATI - SDRC , a global supplier of e-business collaboration solutions for the product lifecycle, today announced that Renault has successfully deployed SDRC Metaphase(R) product knowledge management (PKM) software into production with 3,000 users at 22 sites worldwide. Metaphase is the foundation of Renault's Geometric Data Management system, an enterprise information system for the management of their engineering data.Renault has three primary objectives in deploying their geometric data management system -- reduce time to market, increase quality, and decrease costs. They are reducing time to market through the use of digital mockup design and design reviews, work in process management, and global data sharing. By controlling CAD quality and life cycle states and workflow management, they are increasing overall product quality. Cost reductions are realized through the reuse of parts and reduction in physical prototypes. Metaphase, through the project GDG (CAD Data management system), is an important tool to achieve these goals.
"Renault is committed to a global profitable growth strategy," said Philippe Pineau, manager of the PDM competency center, Renault. "We realize it is critical to engage production-proven technology in this process. GDG, based on SDRC's Metaphase software, allows Renault to manage an essential part of its complex product life cycle. In gaining efficiencies through this process, Renault is able to decrease product costs and time to market, and to significantly increase quality -- essential elements in support of our overall business strategy."
"As competition increases across all dimensions of discrete manufacturing, knowledge is becoming a key strategic advantage," said Bill Weyand, chairman and CEO, SDRC. "Renault understands that knowledge, and time to knowledge, are major factors in achieving their business goals, and they are rapidly deploying Metaphase for this purpose. In fact, Metaphase is quickly becoming a preferred solution throughout the automotive industry for harnessing intellectual capital. We're very pleased that Renault is successfully using Metaphase in their production environment."
