Philadelphia Charity Benefits from Corporate Involvement In Republican ConventionPHILADELPHIA - DaimlerChrysler Corporation announced today that it has made a $25,000 contribution to the Good Neighbor Partnership Fund, a non-partisan initiative whose mission is to alleviate poverty among women, children and families in the Philadelphia area. The Philadelphia Foundation established the Fund as a part of this year's Republican Convention, the first national political convention to return to Philadelphia in 52 years. "DaimlerChrysler is thrilled to support the Good Neighbor Partnership Fund," said W. Frank Fountain, DaimlerChrysler's Senior Vice President for Government Affairs and President of the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund. "This initiative supports our long-standing commitment of investing in America's future and allows us to make a lasting difference in the Philadelphia community." DaimlerChrysler's donation specifically benefits ASPIRA Inc. of Pennsylvania, an organization dedicated to promoting the welfare and development of Puerto Rican and Latino youth in the Philadelphia area. ASPIRA purchased a new Dodge minivan with the funds. The organization will use the minivan to safely transport children to and from their homes and ASPIRA activities. Today, DaimlerChrysler delivered a minivan, full of summer camp supplies to ASPIRA. "We are extremely grateful to DaimlerChrysler for their charitable contribution," said Lydia Hernandez-Velez, executive director of ASPIRA Inc. of Pennsylvania. "Their generosity and support will play a key role in our continued efforts to empower the Latino community through advocacy and the educational and leadership development of its youth." DaimlerChrysler Corporation is the sole contributor to the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund, providing a percentage of the corporation's profits to the Fund for charitable purposes. Since its founding in 1953, the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund has contributed more than $250 million to charitable organizations throughout the United States and, increasingly, around the world. During 2000, the Fund will contribute more than $31 million to charity.
