Textron Takes the Prize; Innovative Ideas Recognized World-Wide
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Throughout the first half of 2000, Textron Inc. has collected accolades for innovative products and outstanding service world-wide. These awards demonstrate Textron's commitment to being one of the world's best managed companies by promoting innovation and achieving global leadership positions in each of its business units.-- McCord Winn Textron, a leading supplier of modular fluid management systems, automotive windshield and headlamp washing systems, seating comfort systems and electro-mechanical components, was the winner of The 2000 Industrial Plastics Product Design Award for the design and development of the RITec(TM) (Reservoir Integration Technology) Fan Shroud Reservoir. The award was presented at the Society of Plastics Engineers 58th Annual Technical Conference held in Orlando, Florida on May 9, 2000. RITec integrates traditionally separate automotive components into one multi-functional part. This is the fifth award for a RITec innovation. -- HR Textron, a provider of engineered motion control component and system solutions for a variety of factory automation, mobile equipment, automotive, aerospace and defense needs, received the Design News Excellence in Design Award for its model 27N Rotary Direct Drive Servovalve, which has applications ranging from automotive vehicle component testing to semiconductor manufacturing. -- Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America Inc., recognized Kautex Textron, a market leader in the development and manufacturing of blowmolded plastic products for automotive supply and packaging, with the Supplier Award, Production for their excellence in the areas of product quality, delivery and competitive value. -- Mitsubishi also recognized Textron Automotive Company Trim (TAC-Trim), a leading worldwide supplier of automotive interior and exterior plastic components, for their effort and achievement in C.A.R.E., (Mitsubishi's Cost Avoidance and Reduction Effort). -- TAC-Trim was also selected as one of General Motors' Supplier of the Year award winners for the second consecutive year. -- TAC-Trim also received Toyota's Value Improvement Excellence Award which is presented to 16 North American suppliers, recognizing outstanding performance in value improvement, cost reduction. -- Textron Systems, a world leader in the production of sensor fuzed munitions, surveillance and aircraft landing systems, received the Bronze Award for their ProSpectra(TM) Grain Analyzer in the Best New Product category during the PITTCON(R) 2000 conference held in New Orleans, Louisiana. This conference is the world's largest annual display of new analytical instrumentation, at which over 4,000 exhibitors displayed products.
