Sechler, Sweet Named to USCAR Communications PostsSOUTHFIELD, Mich. - Lee B. Sechler, veteran DaimlerChrysler public relations executive, is Communications Director for the United States Council for Automotive Research, through March 1, 2002. He succeeds Paul C. Wood of Ford, who returns to Ford. Sechler is responsible for communications for USCAR -- the umbrella organization that coordinates collaborative and pre-competitive research projects for DaimlerChrysler, Ford and GM -- and USCAR's participation in the industry-government Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles (PNGV). For the past four years, he was a manager in DaimlerChrysler's communications programs, co-editor of the company's quarterly worldwide newsmagazine and editor of the Auburn Hills-based company newspaper. Before that, he was manager of labor relations public relations. He has held a variety of corporate media and product public relations positions during his career with DaimlerChrysler. Prior to joining the staff, Sechler held a variety of newspaper editorial positions in suburban Detroit, New York City, suburban Chicago, and Toledo. He earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Central Michigan University. Sechler lives in Birmingham, Mich., with his wife, Louise. Also recently joining the USCAR communications staff as Communications Specialist is Jennie Sweet. Previously, she was at Spring Arbor College where she was admissions/corporate relations specialist. In the past, she worked as a reporter for several northern Michigan daily newspapers and in the Lake Superior State University public relations office. Sweet earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Lake Superior State University and is currently completing a masters degree in organizational management. Sweet resides in Canton, Mich. with her partner, Raymond, and son, Christopher.
