William Burgess Named President AND CEO of Allied Automotive Group

    DECATUR, Ga. - Allied Holdings, Inc. , parent company of the world's largest 
automotive distribution and logistics network, announced that William (Bill) R. 
Burgess has been named president and CEO of its Allied Automotive Group unit, 
effective immediately.

    Burgess, 49, has nearly 30 years of executive management experience in the
logistics, distribution and transportation business, most recently serving as
president of Lykes Brothers in Florida, one of the largest citrus processing
plants of private label and national brands in the world.  He was also
previously president of the corporation's transportation unit, Lykes
Transport.

    Prior to joining Lykes Brothers, Burgess was president and CEO of
AMERISERV Food in Dallas, Texas, one of the country's largest food
distributors for major restaurant chains.  He also held senior management and
executive positions at Domino's Pizza, Inc., Little Caesars Enterprises, Inc.
and Grocers Packing Supply, Inc., all located in the Detroit, Mich., area.

ensure Allied Automotive Group remains the industry-leader in the car-hauling
business, and he will work to strengthen its position as a provider of value-
added services," said Randall E. West, president and chief operating officer
of Allied Holdings, Inc.  "His experience in dealing with large global
accounts and providing premier customer service will also help Allied
Automotive Group to meet changing customer needs in the automotive
marketplace."
