Collins & Aikman Names New General Managers at Ontario Facilities

    TROY, Mich. - Collins & Aikman Corporation today announced the appointment of Andrew E. Halls to General Manager for its Scarborough and Mississauga, Ontario, facilities, and the promotion of Roger E. Peters to General Manager of its Gananoque facility.

    In making the announcement, Louis Gasperut, Chief Operating Officer of Collins & Aikman's Plastic Division, said, "Both Halls' and Peters' vast experience in plant operations and manufacturing and engineering will be key in maintaining the world-class quality level expected by our customers as we continue to integrate our acoustics and styling into vehicle programs."

    As General Managers, Halls and Peters will be responsible for implementing their plant's operating strategies, ensuring consistency of manufacturing operations and identifying and implementing new product and process improvements.

    Collins & Aikman's Scarborough facility, which employs approximately 675 people, produces injection-molded thermoplastic automotive components for selected Ford, General Motors and Saab vehicles. The Mississauga facility employs approximately 285 people, and manufactures air outlets and interior plastic trim for Ford, General Motors and DaimlerChrysler vehicle programs, while the Gananoque facility employs about 460 individuals and produces plastic interior components for both Ford and General Motors vehicles.

    Halls joins Collins & Aikman most recently as President of Everest & Jennings, a medical devices manufacturing company. Prior to that, he was Plant Manager for Bertrand Faure Components Limited. He also held a number of plant operations positions with Ford Motor Company in the United Kingdom. Halls holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of East London in London, England.

    Roger Peters was most recently the Operations Manager at Collins & Aikman's Manchester, Mich., plant. Peters has more than 30 years of experience in producing plastisol and injection-molded components, and has held several positions with Collins & Aikman. Prior to C&A, Peters held a number of progressively responsible senior operations management positions at Textron Automotive Company.
