Isuzu Reports First Half SUV Sales Up 13 Percent for Year

Best Ever June Sales of Rodeo - Trooper Sales Up 27%; VehiCROSS Sales up 28%; Amigo Sales Up 28% For YearCERRITOS, Calif. - American Isuzu Motors Inc. today reported sales of Isuzu SUVs for the year are up 13 percent in the first half of 2000. Trooper, the Isuzu 4x4 that essentially created the luxury compact SUV segment, showed a healthy increase of 27 percent over 1999 year-to-date sales. Of the 10,928 Troopers sold so far this year, approximately 38 percent are the new 2WD version. The Rodeo, Isuzu's most popular vehicle, continued to show strength in the highly competitive four-door compact SUV segment. Rodeo is up seven percent for the year for a total of 31844 units. In addition, Rodeo posted sales of 8638 in June, Rodeo's best ever sales performance. Sales of Amigo are running 28 percent above that of last year, indicating customer enthusiasm for the wide variety of choice offered by the most powerful SUV in its class. Amigo offers a hard top version and a soft top version -- each available in 2WD or 4WD. "Our performance in the first half of the year is right on target for our 2000 objectives," said Buck Trawick, Vice President, SUV sales. "Even though consumer confidence in the market is reported declining somewhat, consumer confidence in Isuzu SUV's has never been higher. I believe this is a direct result of a superior product backed with best service and the longest warranty in America, our 10 Year, 120,000 mile Powertrain Limited Warranty."
