CERRITOS, Calif. - American Isuzu Motors Inc. today reported sales of Isuzu
SUVs for the year are up 13 percent in the first half of 2000.

Trooper, the Isuzu 4x4 that essentially created the luxury compact SUV
segment, showed a healthy increase of 27 percent over 1999 year-to-date sales.
Of the 10,928 Troopers sold so far this year, approximately 38 percent are the
new 2WD version.

The Rodeo, Isuzu's most popular vehicle, continued to show strength in the
highly competitive four-door compact SUV segment. Rodeo is up seven percent
for the year for a total of 31844 units. In addition, Rodeo posted sales of
8638 in June, Rodeo's best ever sales performance.

Sales of Amigo are running 28 percent above that of last year, indicating
customer enthusiasm for the wide variety of choice offered by the most
powerful SUV in its class. Amigo offers a hard top version and a soft top
version -- each available in 2WD or 4WD.

"Our performance in the first half of the year is right on target for our
2000 objectives," said Buck Trawick, Vice President, SUV sales. "Even though
consumer confidence in the market is reported declining somewhat, consumer
confidence in Isuzu SUV's has never been higher. I believe this is a direct
result of a superior product backed with best service and the longest warranty
in America, our 10 Year, 120,000 mile Powertrain Limited Warranty."

American Isuzu Motors Inc. is the U.S. distributor of Isuzu sport utility
vehicles, commercial vehicles and diesel engines.
