Avis Europe Creates & Appoints New Exec Position

Board Appointment - Executive Director

    BRACKNELL, Berkshire - Avis Europe plc, the leading car rental company in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia today announced the appointment of Dieter Woitscheck to the new position of Chief Operating Director, reporting to Mark McCafferty, Chief Executive. Dieter will join the Board effective 1st January 2001 from his current position as Managing Director of the Avis business in Germany.

    As Chief Operating Director, Dieter assumes responsibility for the Group's five major markets - Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the UK and Group Fleet and Operations.

    Dieter Woitscheck aged 47 joined the Avis Group in 1989 as Marketing & Sales Director, Germany. Prior to joining Avis, Dieter held a number of marketing and sales positions with blue chip companies. Since April 1993 he has managed the Avis business in Germany, successfully leading the company through seven consecutive years of double-digit growth.

    Mark McCafferty said: "The appointment of Dieter as Chief Operating Director will strengthen the executive resource of the Group and enable us to pursue our development opportunities, whilst also ensuring focus on our current business.
