Toyota Announces Management Changes in Key Business Units

3 July 2000

TORRANCE, Calif. - Toyota Motor Sales USA today announced management changes
within a number of its business units, including Lexus Division, the University
of Toyota and Central Atlantic Toyota Distributors, Inc., effective July 1, 2000.

Bryan Bergsteinsson, formerly group vice president and general manager,
Lexus Division, is appointed group vice president, University of Toyota.
During Bergsteinsson's tenure as head of Lexus, the division has had
record-setting years and attained the highest sales and profit levels ever
experienced by Lexus. Lexus again placed first in the National Automobile
Dealers' Association rankings for dealer satisfaction with an auto
manufacturer. Bergsteinsson's new role with Toyota's dealer and associate
education organization will extend the positive impact of Lexus Division's
success to the entire TMS organization.

Richard L. Chitty, the present head of the University, has accepted an
officer-level position within Toyota Motor Corporation's International
Operations. He will play a major role in Toyota's global organization and
will assume an overseas assignment. This move is an example of how TMS, USA
will play a growing role in TMC's globalization efforts. Additional details
will be announced at a future date.

Prior to serving as vice president of the University of Toyota, Chitty was
vice president of the TMS New Era Business Project and held a wide variety of
positions with the Lexus Division, including vice president of parts, service
customer satisfaction and training for the luxury division.

Dennis E. Clements will succeed Bergsteinsson as group vice president and
general manager, Lexus Division. Previously president and general manager of
Central Atlantic Toyota Distributors, Inc. since 1991, Clements was the chief
operating officer of Toyota's wholly owned distributorship for Pennsylvania,
Delaware, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia and West Virginia. He has
17 years' experience with Toyota including positions as general manager of the
Denver and New York sales regions, national sales manager and corporate
maritime and logistics operation manager.

Donald V. Esmond, previously group vice president, Toyota Division, was
promoted to senior vice president in June. Esmond will assume additional
responsibilities for Toyota Logistics Services, a TMS subsidiary that provides
vehicle transportation from manufacturing plants and ports of entry to Toyota
dealerships.

John Turmell, senior vice president, customer services group, will take on
additional duties as senior vice president, affiliated companies. He will
assume responsibilities for Airflite, Toyota's FBO aviation development unit,
and Toyota MarineSports, maker of Toyota Epic ski and wakeboard boats.
