Tortelli retakes AMA MX National series lead with Red Bud victory

2000 AMA/Chevy Trucks 250cc U.S. Motocross Championships, Round 6: Red Bud Track-n-Trail, Buchanan, Michigan, July 2, 2000 Team Honda's Sebastien Tortelli came from behind and pulled away in both 250-class motos to easily win round six and move back into the series points lead of the AMA/Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championships. Tortelli dominated on a sunny, humid day for his first win of the season. Ricky Carmichael was second for the day with 2-3 scores. Fellow Honda Red Riders Kevin Windham and Mike LaRocco also enjoyed excellent performances at Buchanan, Michigan's Red Bud Track-n-Trail, Windham earning third with his 4-2 finishes and LaRocco getting fifth with his 5-4. Team Honda racer Ezra Lusk was unable to race, as he's still feeling the effects of a practice crash two weeks ago. In the 125s, Honda Red Rider Steve Lamson maintained his hold on second in series points thanks to a 5-4 day for third overall on his Works Connection/Troy Lee Designs-backed CR125R. Stephane Roncada took a double-moto victory as he'd done at the previous round in Maryland while Travis Pastrana went 6-2 for second overall.
