Mitsubishi Claims All-Time Record Month, Quarter and Year

Record 300,000 Sales Per Year Within Reach in 2000

    CYPRESS, Calif. - Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, will post its best 
month ever, best second quarter ever and best first half ever in its 18-year 
corporate history when official sales results are released on Monday, July 3.

    -- June sales will be the best month in the company's history, topping
       30,000 units for the first time and achieving a 75% increase over the
       same month last year;
    -- Second quarter sales will be up 50% over the same time period last
       year, a new record;
    -- First half sales will be up 40% over the first half of 1999, another
       new record.

    The company's sales projections closely follow an announcement made
earlier this week by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) in Tokyo that it was
implementing a major reorganization of its North American passenger car
operations in order to expand annual sales in the U.S. to 400,000 by 2005.

    "Calendar year 2000 has proven to be a great success for us, exceeding
even our own ambitious objectives," said Pierre Gagnon, MMSA executive vice
president and chief operating officer.  "We are well on our way to surpassing
300,000 sales this year, which will be a great achievement for our entire
organization as well as our retail partners."
