DETROIT and NORTHBROOK, Ill. - The Automotive and Industrial Electronics
Group of Motorola, Inc. , a business unit of the company's Integrated Electronic
Systems Sector, today announced it has received Detroit Diesel Corporation's
1999 CCVI Supplier of the Year award. Motorola AIEG supplies Detroit Diesel
with electronic control modules for its heavy-duty engines.

"Motorola's success results from the strong partnerships we continue to
develop with world-class organizations such as Detroit Diesel," said Dave
Melka, senior vice president and general manager of Motorola AIEG. "We're
pleased to receive this honor in appreciation for our consistency as a solid
business partner and as a supplier that can be counted on to deliver complete
solutions."

Detroit Diesel recognized its top 1999 supplier performers based on
measurements in its supply chain management program called "Continuous
Customer Value Improvement" (CCVI). Detroit Diesel evaluates major suppliers
quarterly in the areas of quality, delivery, cost and technical support with
the goal of eliminating waste through enhanced communication and coordination

scoring metrics and increase program coverage to 84 percent of purchase
revenues.
