Amerigon Climate Control Seat(TM) (CCS(TM)) Team Receives Achievement Award from Ford Motor Company
IRWINDALE, Calif., June 27 Amerigon Incorporated
announced today that the application engineering team
responsible for the introduction of its proprietary Climate Control Seat(TM)
(CCS(TM)) system into the model year 2000 Lincoln Navigator sports utility
vehicle (SUV) has received a 1999 Truck Significant Achievement Award from the
Truck Vehicle Center of Ford Motor Company . The award, which was
presented at a banquet at Lovett Hall at Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI,
late last month, is among those given annually to a number of winners for
exemplary achievement in a variety of engineering, manufacturing and product
development categories. Ford Motor Company Chairman William Clay Ford gave
the keynote address at the banquet, and Gurminder Bedi, vice president, Ford
North American Truck, presented the awards.
The multi-company CCS team receiving the award included James Mertes, Dan
Pace, John Taylor and John Terech from Amerigon; Stephen Helwig, Scott Jiran
and Brian Pennington from the Ford Truck Product Development Center in
Dearborn; Dave Hensel and John Scalzo from Plymouth, MI-based Automotive Group
of Johnson Controls, Inc. , the seat manufacturer for the
Navigator; and Tim Brady from the Northbrook, IL-based Automotive and
Industrial Electronics Group of Motorola .
Amerigon President and CEO Richard A. Weisbart commented, "The
inter-company cooperation and dedication of the team was instrumental in the
successful implementation of the CCS program for the Lincoln Navigator, and we
congratulate each of them for their outstanding achievement. We are proud to
have been a part of the effort and to share in the award."
Ford has agreed to use Amerigon's proprietary CCS system exclusively for
heated and cooled or heated and ventilated seats for a period of five years,
and CCS is currently available as an option on the model year 2000 Lincoln
Navigator SUV. Early customer feedback has been very positive.
CCS is the only product on the market today that makes it possible for
both the driver and front seat passenger of a vehicle to individually and
actively control the warming and/or cooling of their respective seat for
year-round comfort.
